The Ratiu Family Charitable Foundation was established in London in 1979 by Ion and Elisabeth Rațiu to promote and support projects which further education and research in the culture and history of Romania internationally. The Foundation offers up to 100 annual grants, principally for projects, postgraduate courses, conference participations, travel grants, and other short-term courses including academic research. The Ratiu Foundation has to date supported students in a wider range of subjects including music, theatre, business, philosophy, political studies, law, art, and fashion design. In collaboration with violinist Alexandru Tomescu, we presented an anniversary concert honoring the life of Romanian diplomat Nicolae Ratiu. Proceedings went towards restoring George Enescu’s Memorial house in Mihaileni (Romania) as well as establishing the first “George Enescu” Music and Visual Arts Academy in the same city. The program was co-produced under the auspices of Ratiu Foundation, Pro Patrimonio Foundation and the Remember Enescu Foundation with the participation of HRH Prince Charles, British Embassy in Romania, and several other diplomats.
